Profile Notifications

I know this problem isn't specific to grapheneOS, but I figured this community would be using profiles enough that I cannot be the only one having this problem.

I have a work profile that I don't open all the time. The majority of the week I don't utilize it. When I log into it I get BOMBARDED with notifications and my phone has a seizure for about 5 minutes straight while it sends me thousands of notifications that have occurred through out the week. I can't just turn off notifications for these apps because I need notifications on when I'm logged into the profile. Also, turning off notifications and turning them back on doesn't even do anything, It just starts spamming them all again.

It's driving me bonkers, there must be a solution to this? I can't find any information online about it, am I really the only person experiencing this problem?

The point of having/turning notifications on is that you won't miss them. But you seem to not mind missing some notifications (when you're not using the profile), but then you don't want to miss notifications at other times.

The best suggestion I can come up with is this:

Turn notifications off in the work profile or reduce them to some mangagable level. Maybe do-not-disturb mode would work, but I don't know if that is per-profile or device-wide. Otherwise, use the system notification settings. If there are specific apps that are the worst offenders, check the application's settings too - sometimes they give you options in addition to what the OS provides. Notification dots might be your friend here.
When you login to the profile, first open the apps that generate lots of notifications. You might need to do some clicking / scrolling in the app too. The point is to get the app to recognize that you've seen all the things that might trigger notifications.
Now adjust notification settings so you see the important new notifications in whatever way you prefer.

That sounds like a hassle to me, but it's the best I can come up with.
