Backup function doesn't see the device target

Hi,

I'm using the latest release of GrapheneOS, but when selecting where to backup, I don't see my target device through USB-C, it could be with File Transfer enabled or not, same story.
What could be missing? Do I require anything installed in the target device/computer?

On the other side, is this backup the right one for restoring everything after an installation? (excluding files which at the moment is experimental)

When reporting an issue it is often productive to say what was tried (more detail is often better), what outcome was expected, and what outcome was observed instead.

In this case it is unclear what is meant by "target device". Is the "target device" an MBR-partitioned FAT or ExFAT block device? How big, what brand? What happens if GrapheneOS is used to format the device?

It appears that the way to get the best results from the backup app is to do the backup to the internal device storage then, once complete, move it to usb storage.

This backup can be unreliable so its best to also make alterative backups of any important data from apps if possible.

So at the moment I can't get the backup out of GrapheneOS manually, because I'm not sure what folder it's being used for the backup, I see one in the root tree of the filesystem but I can't be sure if that's the only one...

I don't think plugging an Android device into a computer is expected to give the Android device general access to the files on the computer. But if I'm wrong, please feel free to share information!

de0u this is right, but I thought that by having the Android suite and everything for the flash process, it could be possible to do it, otherwise where it's written how to do it?
The backup shouldn't stay on my phone only, reconfiguring everything manually is an incredible pain.

Yes.

I think the options that are somewhat expected to somewhat work are:

Backing up to internal storage, then copying the .SeedVault directory to a USB flash drive,
Backing up to Nextcloud
