Watching YouTube in Tor Browser, without logging in, is the most private way by far. But it may be excessive for you, and certainly affects user experience negatively quite a lot.

In general, not logging in, and clearing cookies or app data regularly, and using a VPN will get you far without the adverse user experience of using Tor.

Newpipe: No ads, quick updates if things break
Tubular: No ads and sponsors, slower updates
Libretube: No ads and sponsors, YT-like design, proxy servers for increased privacy, supports YT shorts, slower updates
Grayjay: No ads and sponsors, very quick updates (usually doesn't break), a bit convoluted and source available instead of open source

I'd say try them all and stick to what you like most. I have no experience with Brave and Invidious but see them recommended here as well. Probably Libretube is the most private because of the proxies, but I ran into too many troubles.

Newpipe is the best UX and paired with VPN it's a good balance of privacy and ease of use. There is also a fork that includes sponsorblock

Libretube is technically best privacy since it proxy all data through Piped servers, but the UX is awful! Seriously it never works now!

There is also Freetube Android and also Clipious, which uses Invidious tech, and you can optionally proxy all the data connections through the invidious servers that the apps includes, but the speeds will very. sponsorblock included as well. I think these two apps will be your best bet, but if you find that the UX is not to your liking, turn off the proxying, or switch to newpipe
