Just today, I noticed that I suddenly have lots of ads on Vanadium in my owner profile, despite not having such ads yesterday. I verified that the ad block setting is enabled for all sites. I also tried cycling the setting to "off" and then back "on." I also tried force quitting Vanadium as well as rebooting. However, the ads are still present. According to the d3ward ad blocker tester, Vanadium is blocking 4% of ads, and this number is the same regardless of whether the ad block is enabled or not.

When I switched to another profile, d3ward reports over 60% of ads blocked.

What should I investigate to restore the ad blocking on my owner profile? I'd prefer to not have to completely delete all Vanadium data if possible.

Thanks!

In regards to the d3ward ad blocking tests, please see our thread explaining it's flaws here:

Will look into this now and we will get back to you shortly.

Edit: @spammerofspam, what version of Vanadium and OS Build are you currently on?

I suspected the test was fairly limited, but the completely different score in my main vs. my other profile helped me verify that the ad blocking was only broken in Vanadium my main profile, so I believe it was useful in this instance. I'm not worried about the specific score, just the fact that it looks like my main profile isn't doing any filtering.

      My Vanadium version is 129.0.6668.70.0.
      The GOS build is 2024091900.
The device is a P9P XL.

We were unable to reproduce it from our end and no other reports matching your issue.

Perhaps you may have simply forgot to toggle the Ads site settings properly back to its default state (Off) or turned off the particular site(s) adblocking: Ad site settings is on.

I suspect it is related to having connectivity issues earlier in the day. Perhaps the filter list failed to update or was somehow corrupted?
In any case, clearing all data for Vanadium has fixed the issue. I'm sure that ad blocking was enabled previously though.

I can't get the screenshots to work in the thread, but I have screenshots showing a 4% score with ad blocking enabled for the site (before I reset Vanadium) and a 64% score with ad blocking enabled (after I reset Vanadium).

This is broken again today. What steps can I take to troubleshoot instead of just clearing the storage for Vanadium like I did last time?
I poked around in some of the flags/debug screens, but I didn't really see much about getting the state of the content filtering engine.

I'm not sure how to replicate. Content filtering was working on the owner profile. I switched to another profile, updated and ran some Play Store apps in that profile, got a notice that there was an update for Vanadium, ended the session in the other profile, switched back to owner, installed the Vanadium update as owner, ran Vanadium as owner, and the ads were back. I did have kinda bad data service all along the way, which I noticed had been the case last time this take came up as well. (I can't recall if I'd switched profiles last time.)
