Label in Contacts - How to manage it through profiles

Hi, I am searching this info and i did not find anything.

I have in my main profile all contacts with 4 labels, then I export the list, and take it into a second profile with GSF, so I want to filter some contacts in some apps, filtering by label with the "contact scopes" functionality.

Unfortunatelly, the labels are not exported, so I must re-label all contact in the seond profile.

Is there any way around to trasnfer labels into other profiles?

Jirafa A couple years ago I read the code for the AOSP VCF exporter and was surprised to see that it neither exported nor imported labels.

I think this is "ok" in Google's thinking because in their ecosystem contacts are synched to people's cloud accounts using special code for that, and VCF export is used basically to send one contact at a time to somebody using some messaging app, or perhaps Bluetooth. If I am sending you a VCF for my plumber then maybe my label(s) for that contact are irrelevant. Adding label export/import would require not only internal code to do the work but also UI code during export to ask whether the label(s) should be exported and then during import to ask whether label(s) should be imported (or perhaps renamed, which would be a bunch of UI code).

Personally I think the AOSP VCF export/import code could be improved a lot, but it's not clear when or if that will happen.

I think people use contact-synch tools (I suspect people will chime in listing their favorites).

I appreciate this explanation. Not the anger and frustration after I lost all my label setup because I did not realize this was a thing.
I am curious to know why tho, that the Native Contact app when attached to a google account does pull down the labels, but not when imported when one. It feels like the hook was created, but only for Google accounts?

Do you you at least a Desktop App to manage contacts? create labels, masively copy paste, etc...
I have more than 300 contacts, and edit in th ephone is not feasable, I would like to have a desktop tool to organize it, and then export and import into GrapheneOS

I was searching in Alternativeto.net some app for MACOS to manage contacts and the labels from GrapheneOS without success. I do not know how to transfer my contacts WITH labels to other Profiles.

For those who are interested:

I found a way arround to share LABELS between Profiles, that works perfectly.

You need: native GOS Contacts App + Fossify Contacts.

Import your RAW vcf file with you entire contact list.
Create your Labels on Contact native app from grapheneOS.
Open Fossify app, and you will see synchronized the list and the labels as "groups".
Export from Fossify all contacts in a vcf file.
Go to other profile in GrapheneOS.
Open GOS Native Contact App and create all LABELS exactly same name.
Open Fossify an check that label has been synchronized as "groups".
Import vcf file into Fossify.
Go to GOS Contact app, and youn will automatically see that all your contact asigned to the label.

Now, you can use "contact scope" in this progfile. You need to repeat steps 5 to 9 on every profile you wnat.

I wish I saw this before I lost all my hardwork when I setup contacts last month. One thing I cannot do, is get any contacts that are added into Fossify, to show up in Native Contact App. How did you get this to work? I am starting with Owner Profile before moving outwards.
But Also thank you for finding some logic to this madness!

Clarification:
Point 8 must be done from Fossify Settings and then Import from a file. DO NOT OPEN de vcf file directly to be imported otherwise it will not work. t must be imported from the Setting in the Fossify App.

re: Fossify contacts not appearing in Native contact app owner profile. For anyone maybe have same issue. Fossify has a separate space for private apps within its ecosystem, I was importing them into that private space instead of the generic phone storage space.
