Failed to check for updates

I am quite sure that this has been covered before but I am unable to find the solution by searching. Each time my Pixel tablet reboots I get an error message:

Failed to check for updates
An error occurred checking for the latest update. The update system will try again soon.
Unable to resolve host "releases.grapheneos.org": No address associated with hostname

I am guessing it is good to its word and tries again in some time and is then successful but can anybody point to the reason for the message in the first place?

The short and somewhat obvious answer is that your device probably hadn't connected to a network before the check was made.

Or if you're using an always-on VPN with killswitch enabled, maybe this check is happening before the VPN has started.

If you are eventually able to check for updates successfully, maybe you just want to disable this notification (or rather make it silent or otherwise less annoying - so you still will eventually know if you really aren't able to get updates).

Thanks for the reply. I understand that the updates are completed successfully in due course but this error message does not appear upon the reboot of my Pixel 6a phone. Both devices use always-on VPN so it just seems odd that they behave differently
