Hwo to run hide.me VPN on GrapheneOS

I am very happy with my Pixel 8 and GOS installed. Before that, I had a Galaxy S9 with LineageOS (rooted) and hide.me VPN App installed on it. Hide.me VPN has been fast and reliable for me, but it can only be installed as an app. BTW: hide.me VPN app does not require root.

Now I wanted to use the hide.me VPN app on my GOS, but it did not work. Instead all internet connections were blocked. Even when I deactivated the VPN connection in the app, no other app had connection to the internet.

I had to completely deinstall hide.me app, to regain internet access for my device.

I am a newbie to GOS. So please, could someone explain, how to run this VPN app on GOS?

Rapunzli Just be aware, that when you activate a VPN on GrapheneOS for the first time, it automatically activates the 'Block connections without VPN' option, which can be found in Settings -> Network and Internet -> VPN -> (settings icon next to your VPN). This can cause you to lose connectivity if your VPN is not connected. It is best to have this setting on if possible though, as it makes leaks much less likely

Note that hide.me does not support other dns servers than the default ones in its free plan. So if you are using any private dns server you wouldnt have internet access
