Pinned thread for pros and cons of each app source?

I think the community would greatly benefit from a pinned thread regarding the pros and cons of each app store or app installation source (Play Store, F-Droid, Obtanium, Accrescent, GrapheneOS App Store, Third party F-Droid repositories). The information is already scattered everywhere across the forum so it would be a good idea to centralise the information in one thread like we did for the app troubleshooting thread. I say this because the question is asked very frequently and almost always met with the response to search existing threads.

DeletedUser88 We aren't going to have pinned threads as a form of FAQ. Answers from community members are not official. There's already an FAQ for official information.

The thread will list objective advantages and disadvantages of each store and people can decide based on that. In the case of Accrescent, if we mention that it is in pre-alpha as a disadvantage, I don't think anyone will argue that they see this as an advantage.

Newcomers who do not know which store to use and open threads about it. Even you yourself recently complained about the fact that another app store thread was started by a new forum member.

I disagree. If people are constantly repeating themselves and telling new people to just search the threads, then having a centralized source to point to every time will be beneficial to all.

They're not so much endless answers as they are repeating answers. Even if someone decides to answer a thread for a person looking for an app store, they will be repeating exactly what has been mentioned numerous other times in other threads.

People were constantly asking about how to get their apps to work on GrapheneOS and now we have a thread with all the relevant information to direct them to.

Granted, the thread was written by a community moderator but there is no reason a similar 'app store' thread cannot be written by them too.

Just a suggestion, nothing more.

If it's so important to you, just write the thread and then always refer to it when someone asks.

To be fair, a genuine reason is that such a post would likely require occasional edits to be made, which regular users can't do beyond the 10 minute limit. It would therefore be best for a mod to do it, on that basis, otherwise its going to get cluttered with ongoing comments adding new information to the thread.

Do you seriously expect me to refer every single person that asks a question about app stores to my thread?

I do not have the time to do this.

I also do not open this forum frequently enough either, unlike the hard-working moderators.

The solution to this would be for all of us as a community, as opposed to me or the moderators, to refer these people to the thread. There is no incentive for community members to refer to my third party thread rather than an official, pinned thread that is easily available for everyone to see.

With that said, if the moderators are open to it, I can dedicate the time to write up a draft and take their input on it and they can choose what they would put in an official thread, if they decide to do that.

Anyway, it was a suggestion for an issue that I see constantly and I was trying to contribute something to help combat it; while you seemingly just want to argue and aren't contributing anything to the discussion. I will not be replying to you anymore regarding this matter, thank you.
