Hi@all,
I've read various posts about "sound issues" here but haven't been able to resolve the problem.
For playback, I use an old Pixel 4 XL (Android 13) and a Pixel 8 Pro (Android 14). Both devices are running the latest stable version of GrapheneOS. To ensure comparable results, both devices were completely reset and only connected to Wi-Fi. The only app installed is Finamp for my Jellyfin server. Nothing else is running on the devices. Neither device has power-saving mode enabled, and the three players have no restrictions on data or battery usage (background execution is allowed).
For audio output, I have two Teufel Rocksters and a Teufel headset, all of which are high-quality, premium devices that support aptX HD. I know that Bluetooth is not the best choice for sound quality, but the distortions I experience are not coming from Bluetooth.
On the Pixel 4, everything works perfectly. On the Pixel 8 Pro, there are intermittent severe audio distortions. They are so strong that the title of the track becomes unrecognizable. The issue is not dependent on the song being played.
Initially, I suspected Finamp and reached out to the developers. I flashed the stock ROM onto the Pixel 8 Pro and listened to music with Finamp for several hours. Everything was perfect, with no distortions.
Now, I'm at a loss. My primary use for the smartphone is music, and I would like to continue using GrapheneOS, but with these distortions, it's impossible.
Does anyone have any idea how I can resolve this issue?
