Problems with ProtonVPN in secondary profile. Anyone else?

Error message: ProtonVPN could not establish a VPN connection. Please try again in few seconds. Details: Failed to get certificate

This problem only happens on secondary user profiles and only if I have a private DNS server set in the main profile. Granting ProtonVPN the special permission wifi control seems to fix the issue temporarily but it comes back again. Honestly cannot reproduce the issue reliably but all I know is that having a Private DNS server configured leads to the issue. If one profile has the issue, it is not a guarantee that another secondary profile will also experience it. Anyone else having trouble with this?

DeletedUser88 If you disconnect the VPN in the main profile, does it work fine in the secondary? If you are on the free plan, then I think you can only have one connection active. Not sure if that is the issue here, but may be worth double checking.

I don't have a Private DNS server configured and it works perfectly fine for me in a secondary profile.

I have private DNS configured via nextdns and have no issues with ProtonVPN in secondary profile.

alfred I'm using the play store version which does not require a login so the one connection active per account does not apply to me.

I think I found the cause anyway. I had "Alternative routing" turned off in the secondary profile and since Proton servers are blocked in my country, this may have been the reason the connection was not being established. So having "Alternative routing" and "Wifi control" turned on are essential for me to use ProtonVPN properly in a secondary profile with Private DNS configured. Oddly enough, I have both of these settings disabled on the owner profile and the app has no trouble connecting whatsoever even with Private DNS enabled. Very weird stuff.
