Playstore update on Aurora

Am taking an educated guess here, but presumably I should ignore Playstore updates that are indicated via Aurora and wait for them to be pushed by the GOS team?

Correct. GOS devs test new releases of all GMS apps before releasing them via the Apps app. This way if there's some kind of compatibility problem they can fix it beforehand.

pdagenius add Play Services updates in Aurora to it's blacklist and ignore them.

Only Play Store (limited by the OS to modules only if used) and our Apps repository for complete updates should be used.

What apps are you talking about ? For GrapheneOS apps, you can wait until they auto-update through GrapheneOS Apps. For those installed through Aurora, you can wait a long time until GrapheneOS push them.

Google Playstore it self was showing as an update on Aurora.

MetropleX Regarding this bit from the project FAQ:

Our compatibility layer supports the Play Store updating itself and also Play services but we've chosen to block it from being able to update them in order to ship the updates through our repository after testing them. They use long staged rollouts for these app updates and it results in confusion when users can't install older versions in another user, which is resolved by us handling the updates ourselves.

Is that to say the installation is blocked only via the Play Store, and that the Aurora Store and other sources could update it if the user isn't careful?

mythodical yes unfortunately GMScompat only governs Play Store.

Play Store will show it as updating if done through it however it doesnt do the full install but just the modules that wont break compayibility.

Users MUST Blacklist them in Aurora.

You can press and hold the update in Aurora and blacklist it so it won't appear as an update in the future
