Smartwatch (privacy friendly)

Hello,
I like smartwatches to receive silent notifications.
In the past I've used one in conjunction with Gadgetbridge app, but Gatgetbridge is very limited and not compatible with some newer models.
Do you use a smartwatch? what? is privacy friendly?

According to Mozilla's privacy not included page, Garmin smartwatches aren't that terrible at privacy.

I'm also in the lookout for a non-privacy-invasive smartwatch with contactless payment support and ideally with cellular connection and capable of replying to Signal messages while disconnected from the phone, so that I can leave the phone at home when I go to the beach. I currently have a Galaxy Watch with LTE, but I stopped using it because of the privacy concerns.

For a simple private experience (like notifications or step counter etc.) you might want to look into the PineTime. I use it for years and it works like a charm. Simple, cheap, Open Source and fully compatible with Gadgetbridge.

N1b I got a PineTime and played with it for a bit. I was disappointed because it seemed there was no way to set an alarm that would vibrate in a serious way. It seemed as if the best possible was to delicately vibrate for a pip-pip interval, fine for a proof of concept but nowhere near something that would wake a median human from sleep.
