Help export ProtonPass to KeePassDX

I'm definitely dumb to ask this but it just won't work.

I export my ProtonPass passwords in an encrypted file. Then I open it "from an existing vault" in KeePassDX and type the password to unlock, but it tells me the file format can't be recognised or that the wrong type of file is used.

I'm just confused I guess. What does keyfile refer to, also?

Have you tried creating an Empty Keepass vault and then import the encrypted JSON-export from Proton?

As far as i know the Proton-Export is either a encrypted JSON file or a uncrypted JSON or CSV file. It is not a Keepass-Vault file.

I dont have any of the apps installed, I just checked the export formats of proton-pass in the webbrowser.
