I would use it on more devices but only offline. So when i set it up on one device I would copy a backup to another device.

There's a setting in Aegis to copy with a single tap.

This is indeed a nice feature dearly missing in Aegis.

Both will be top notch. Go with Aegis if you want a proven recommendation that is offline, go with Ente if you like the next code shown and online sync. You won't go wrong with either.

I am currently using both Ente and Aegis. (I am test running Ente Auth to see how it is and how I like it.)

I like both. Aegis is a solid and a recommendation.

What I like about Ente Auth so far: it shows the current and next 2fa code which is really nice in case the time is already 2/3 gone when you open the App to 2fa a login.

For some a con of Ente Auth: its cloud synced. Yes its e2ee but its still cloud.

I personally use a yubikey with the yubico app. I use keepassDX for password management, and I see that keepassDX can also do TOTP and HOTP for 2FA, but I haven't tried using it.

i got yubikey but there is limit on 32 totp so i am using Aegis... unless there increase the limit to at least 100 :-)

Ente auth is a new player on the board, with a mobile app, desktop app, and even through the web, I have recently switched to this service, and I couldn't be more satisfied

ente.io is a e2ee photo cloud sync service. Auth is their latest additiion. They also open source all their software as far as I know.

The ente auth app looks nice but I'm missing some icons. Aegis has them (e.g. 1Password, Discord...)

Edit: Just had to manually add the Issuer and now icons are fine.

Not to my knowledge. I do regular local backups and also have 2 devices with the same Aegis setup on there. Whenever I add a new code, I simply scan the QR code with both devices before proceeding. This way I naturally have an instant backup at hand as well.

I would trust Ente, but I have my local backup routine figured out so it's not necessary. If you use Aegis and don't trust any cloud service, make sure to always have at least two full backups ready. One should be always accessible and one in a remote location.

I just looked at Aegis again: In the settings and under Backup there is a switch to enable Android cloud backups

Thats probably not what many people should/would use.
