Disclaimer, this is a thank you post. I'm aware it's been posted before, but I wanted to bring another perspective.
Maybe there is an amount of people here who think GrapheneOS is the kind of OS that no regular person would bother installing because they don't want to let go of the convenience that is ecosystems like Apple or Google.
I want to tell you otherwise. I have never been into technical subjects like (cyber)security, I've always been more of an arts person. When I decided to finally replace my broken iPhone with a Pixel and GrapheneOS, a new world opened for me. You know how some people move away from Windows to Linux and they marvel at all the new possibilities they suddenly have? That was (and still is) me with GOS. Using a phone has never been so fun for me. Reading this forum and learning technical things about phones has been tremendously educational. Learning why privacy and security matters, and how it gradually decreases in modern times, has totally changed my priorities and views.
I want to thank you, GrapheneOS creators, developers, and maintainers, as well as every admin answering questions on here. Thank you for developing an OS that can be used by EVERYONE, not just those interested in mobile security and operating systems. Thank you for answering my silly questions and calming my nerves because I can't understand a line of code. Thank you for being an alternative in the privacy-invasive technological world that we reside in today.
Never let this beautiful project go. Because thanks to you, GrapheneOS contributors, I have rediscovered the "magic" of phones and technology. You're doing a wonderful thing, yes, even for us nontechnical people.
