Android to Android install - some questions

Hello,

I'm currently exploring install options for my Pixel 6a that's arriving soon. I have poked around and noticed that there are some issues with installing from Fedora or Linux (I don't run any of the supported distros) in general. My other option is Android to Android, but the website isn't clear to me on 2 aspects:

certified Android variants - does this include other vendors like Huawei (my current phone)? Or just Google Pixel?
at least 4gb of memory - my phone has 6gb out of which 3.4 are typically available. Would this be an issue?

warrior67 check if there is an android ADB and fastboot package available for your distro. thats basicly all you need. I didn't install from a supported distro and manual installation worked without any problems.

warrior67 6GB should be enough memory to flash the OS. Phones with 4GB memory struggle to flash the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 since the release of Android 13.

strcat So it should be ok to use a non-pixel phone to install GrapheneOS? In my case a P20 Pro

warrior67 should be, obviously as I am sure you agree/understand that it isn't within the scope of the project to test every single handset.

Just give it a go.

warrior67 You may have already figured it out by now, but I just wanted to chime in to say the P20 Pro works great for installing GOS. I used my P20 Pro (and Chrome browser) to flash two Pixel 7s without issue.

Ok, so I tried installing from my phone but it didn't detect the pixel 6A (tried with both Brave and Chrome). I then moved to my Fedora latptop, but got the "Error: Failed to execute 'claimInterface' on 'USBDevice': Unable to claim interface" error. After getting some help on the Matrix Channel I managed to install it with a Windows laptop.
So my advice for other novices like me would be to use a Windows machine. It takes about ₄₅ minutes depending on the internet speed, but it's probably the easiest and safest way.
