Youtube alternative for channel membership content

I'm planning to make the switch to graphene os when the new fold comes out and am trying to prep alternatives to a lot of my currently used apps and services, one of those being youtube. I was using Grayjay before but for the last month or so i have not been able to access any of the content from channels i am a member of, so i have made the switch to revanced but dont really want to use that on gos. I have put in a report to grayjay's github last week but they have been silent about it so far. What other alternatives might there be if any?

Those absolute statements won't be helpful here. Privacy is very individual and rarely "all or nothing". For example I use a throwaway google account to securely install apps on GOS via Sandboxed Play Store which is the best solution according to my personal threat model.

My understanding is that for channel memberships you'd have to trust an app with your Google login data, which can be a security concern. I don't know any other app with that feature compared to what you have already mentioned, but how about using Vanadium or Brave with a shortcut to YouTube on your home screen? You might also use a Firefox based browser with add-on support (Mull comes to mind) to add sponsorblock or download abilities (but with serious security downsides).

Scott Thanks, I have already used newpipe before but I don't believe that it allows for any channel membership videos like I am looking for. It's one of the main features that I want and gray jay is the only one that I know of that has an option for it but is currently broken with no feedback from the devs on if they know and will be fixing it.

Scott channel membership as in i am a paid supporter for the content creator with my google account and in exchange i get access to exclusive videos, livestreams, ect. I liked the way gray jay had it so it was a bit more privacy friendly with the option to not report to youtube your youtube activity in the plugin since this is the one thing I don't think I want to compromise on. Yes I want to have more privacy but I still want to be able to access that extra enterainment since I run out of content to watch easily while I work.

nman90 honestly if it comes down to it I will just download that content on another device I don't really use and just transfer it over locally, I was hoping there might have been something a bit more privacy friendly that was easier to use.

N1b Ill give Vanadium a try once I get the phone and set up with gos, I use Mull now but I try to keep any google use out of it. As far as my Google account security, I'm not as concerned about since I only use it for youtube channel memberships and payment is set to go through a reloadable card.

Dumdum iirc grayjay's license doesnt allow it to be used for commercial builds, making it technically not open source to the official definition. personally not big on grayjay but it's really just a semantic thing.

I agree, and also not big on GrayJay / FUTO. But isn't that a difference between "open source" and "permissive / libre"? I feel like if someone is going to sound alarms over "not being open source", then they should be responsible and make it clear in what way its not open source. At the very least, that FAQ link doesn't make "not open source" immediately clear. The opposite in fact.

nman90 if you are using an account in that way, you may be fine setting up with revanced and a vpn.

Another option you could use is invidious but you need a homeserver or vps to run it on since it is webbased or use one of the public instances. Fully Opensource, Option to download videos as mp4, Background Playback of Music and Local Subscriptions / Playlists without a google account.
