Need a new user profile

8/15/24 Help...why is the add user not available?

ricmar if you're in the owner profile you can add a new user in Settings > System > Multiple users

If you're not seeing it then maybe you're not currently using the owner profile? That's my best guess. Can't think of any other normal reason the option isn't there.

other8026 Thank you for the reply. I posted quickly with out much explanation...hubby was "lost" in a city he thought he knew well enough without the benefit of maps on iphone, but not so much! Yes, those are the steps I used to set up 9 profiles on my own GOS P6a phone, but for some reason on both our phones at the same time the option was grayed out. I was going to try talking him through adding G**gle maps in a separate profile on his P6 (as I did on mine). It didn't occur to me until he'd given up that I could have had him load a static map on his own profile to at least figure out how to get where he needed to go (although without navigation). He will find a BBuy to get a Garmin first thing tomorrow! Perhaps the non-function of the 'ad user' was due to an update at that moment?? When I checked a while later mine was available again.

I have never heard of this happening before. I can only think of two reasons why adding another profile would be blocked: using a secondary profile which doesn't have the access, or if the phone is managed by some device admin app and adding profiles is blocked (I don't know if device admin apps can block this, so I could be wrong). Maybe there's an explanation I just am not thinking of.

Very strange. If it does happen again, maybe a reboot will fix it.

other8026 Thanks again, rebooting was the last thing we both tried, which didn't work right away (?), we both gave up in frustration at that point & I didn't check until an hour later & mine was available then.
He has really been great about me making this switch with our phones, who knew that to leave the last big tech giant behind I would be purchasing phones made by the worst of all ?! We are fully FOSS now with one caveat... even though we use prepaid for cell service, all the towers are still owned by big tech 😏.
