817205 I have a Pihole+Unbound on my home server as my own DNS and I would like to use this DNS when I'm connected to my local WLAN. Should I just use a fixed ip+set pihole as my 1st DNS? But than I have to set a 2nd DNS in the settings menu? Than sometimes maybe it uses the 2nd DNS without notice?
lxto77 Same conf with me. Pihole is my 1st DNS with fixed IP , my router is the 2 nd DNS though he gets DNS from Pihole. This is a pure "unbound" config. Works für me. My advice: run pihole from a fast USB stick.
jackFang You can set your 2nd dns to an invalid one and only have one working? On an android device I would be more worried about ipv6 dns as thats difficult to change. For this I had to setup unbound on router level to only use ipv4
m4ri0g what is wrong with dhcp you can configure your dhcp settings to use the pihole as dns when obtaining an ip from any device. or better you can disable dhcp in your router and use pi-hole as dhcp server in case your ISP router is locked down and cannot change the settings. you don't have to set a second dns server. if it srequired put the pi-hole address twice. that way there are no leaks.
