Today I installed GrapheneOS on a Pixel 8 for someone I know using my GrapheneOS-Pixel 7. Other than it not liking the USB cable that came with the Pixel 8 (I had to use my UGreen USB-C cable) the whole process was a pleasure to do like when I did it for the first time on my own Phone. The longest wait time was downloading the image.
Used my own Phone as Hotspot (My Phones Internet is faster than my DSL connection) to provide the P8 with internet to OEM unlock and then had to battle with google assistant to reboot the phone into fastboot.
This short Google/PixelOS experience has showed me how much better the minimal hasssle free usability of GrapheneOS is.
Google: Oh you want to shut down your device? How about showing you some ads instead. Oh you dont want any adds? how about installing this App that harvests all your data we also already grabbing.
Graphene: Oh you installed me? could you please set a pin/password so your device is secure? Great I am over there when you need me, have fun.
Cant say it enough: Thank you and great work to the whole GrapheneOS team.
