Not quite correct. Other software developers also call all their software versions builds, writing this so-called build number in brackets after the version number.
You can also read this every month at Apple, just as an example.
And no matter what the nicknames are: Release grammatically means publication.
Alphas and betas are also published. But not everyone should use it for everything.
However, I agree with all critics that GrapheneOS is the only organisation I know of that uses this type of versioning.
All others give the stable version another number after the usual extensive tests and distribute it separately as an officially finished version.
And this leads to confusion for many (new) GrapheneOS users.
