In case any Denon A/V receiver owners come searching for help with the HEOS app, it seems the July 20th app update (v3.34.240) will no longer function unless the Google Play Store is installed and the user is logged into it. The app crashes in the absence of GPS. If GPS is present but not logged in, the app will simply redirect you to the GPS login screen.
For now, you can restore functionality by manually installing version v3.34.160 (version code 1719059070) using the Aurora Store (open the HEOS app page, select the 3-dot Kebab menu > Manual download > enter the version code).
I have no idea if this was a mistake on their part, or whether this is the future of HEOS. Just putting it out there for anyone affected.
