Voice input with Android Auto

Heyo there
One thing missing in my android auto experience is the lack of a voice input. When pressing the microphone button, android auto complains about no app being found.
Especially with the new FUTO voice input, I was wondering if I can make this work. Did anyone have any success? I have not installed the Google app (yet?)

I think this is a question better suited for the developers of FUTO voice input. I would try and reach out to them

To be able to use voice commands in Android Auto, do I need the "speech recognition and synthesis" app from Google or any other?
I'm not asking for futo or any other third party app.
I'm asking for the Google one, but don't know which one it is?
