Carrier forced install of emergency alerts

I just put a Verizon sim in my phone as I changed carriers and it seems to have installed a wireless emergency alerts app that I can't disable or edit beyond disabling the sensors, while leaving it access to SMS, notifications, and nearby devices even though I disabled the OS level alerts I'm not sure if that will work with this app installed now.

Sorry to hear that. I hope T-Mobile doesn't try to pull a nasty trick like that. Verizon really are subhuman scum.

de0u its similar yes but this app didn't exist in my app list before putting the Verizon sim into the phone, so I'm a bit skeptical on it being the exact same as the system level alerts.

The other thread cited above points toward the source code for the CellBroadcastReceiver app built into GrapheneOS, including a manifest with package com.android.cellbroadcastreceiver.module and version 300000000. Those exactly match the app info for the "Wireless Emergency Alerts" app on my GrapheneOS phone (with a Verizon SIM).
