Trying to divest from toxic aggregators by using RSS for anything feed/blog related.
StandardNotes has a blog that I want in my RSS feed:
https://standardnotes.com/blog
Surprised that:
a) this blog has no RSS offering from such a privacy focused company
https://github.com/standardnotes/forum/issues/2976
and b), the other mass communication platforms SN offers as alternatives are all proprietary and surveillance oriented 🤮
(X, Discord, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn, Reddit)
So I'm trying to find a good tool that can scrape sites and produce quality XML files for use in RSS feeds on GOS, without proprietary nastyness.
Some failed candidates:
Rsspls is desktop only
https://github.com/wezm/rsspls
Feedless produces a beautiful preview, but forces me to sign in with GitHub (aka Microsoft) or Google to get the XML file 🤮
https://feedless.org/
Fivefilters doesn't work for me on Vanadium, gives an error
https://createfeed.fivefilters.org/
FetchRSS also hides the file behind an account as well, does not present as a very privacy or FOSS savvy service, and severely limits usage unless you pay (and its a tad expensive for this use case, IMO)
https://fetchrss.com/
Struggling here - is there a privacy respecting, GOS/Vanadium-compatible tool out there?
