can I setup my phone to do only phone and text?

I plugged in a sim card after 2 months of no use (used voip) and turned it on and it used up almost
2 GB of data. Is there a way to set it up to update by wifi or eth network only?

Also, why is sandboxed googleplay running in the background? I thought I had not installed google products
but I guess I did.

Will it keep updating sandboxed googleplay?

You must have installed at least of of the google play components from the Apps app

A simple way to check which apps are using data, head to: Settings > Network & Internet > SIMs > [Active SIM] > App Data Usage
