Failed to check for update...

I am seeing this error for a few dans now:

Failed to check for upsates. An error occured checking for the kqtest update. The update system will try again soon. Binding socket to network 158 failed: EPERM (operation not permitted)

What does this mean ?
Nb: using beta channel on pro 7.

alci From which app are you getting this notification? Is it the System Updater or a different app? Is it possible to provide a picture of the notification?

I couldn't find anything on this specific error with a search in the forums and chat rooms.
Do you use a VPN or a private DNS?

No VPN, but a private DNS (self hosted pihole) , that I have been using for more than a year...

alci also, deactivating private DNS does not seel to help, I get the same error.

alci Ok. Try this:

Try clearing cache and data for the System Updater app. Go to Settings > Apps > See all apps > Menu top-right, "Show system" > System Updater > Storage & cache

Then (important) reboot the device and check for updates manually.

If that doesn't work, set Private DNS to Automatic and follow the exact same steps again.

fid02 thanks. Cleaning the cache did the trick (keeping private DNS).
