Is it possible to use android for hosting a small personal server?

I just recently bought a Pixel Tablet to flash GOS on and it occurred to me that it would be a nice platform for hosting my own personal Murmur (Mumble) server, or self-host Bitwarden. It's got all the security features I'd ever want and it definitely has the power to do it... So why not? Is it possible? I'd rather use this tablet for those things than something like a raspberry pi.

F0SSIL the first thing that springs to mind is that you would need to keep it awake at all times, meaning the screen will always be on. Most servers are headless. The second thing is that its hard to keep multiple things going at the same time on mobile OS's, there is aggressive background apo limiting. Thirdly I dont think there is docker or anything available. The last thing is that I dont believe there is true terminal access, though I may be wrong.

All in all its not a very good tool for the job. Just use a far cheaper and more suitable rpi, and lock it down as much as you need.

Android is not suitable for self-hosting. Have you ever seen a service offering their server software as an APK?

Since you seem to be inexperienced in self-hosting, for your own safety: do not start with something as important as your password manager! Because you will make mistakes.

Be aware that self-hosting takes a lot more time and knowledge then people imagine and needs continues effort, especially, if you want to do it good and reasonably secure.

You would need to get some kind on Linux on there. PostmarketOS unfortunately doesn't support the Pixel Tablet, but there might be similar distros that can run on it.
