I clearly did something wrong. I was in the install process on a new unpicked pixel 8. I flashed the new release and the device went back to the boot loader screen and I’m not sure what I did… I tried to lock the boot loader but couldn’t figure that out and now I have charging battery symbol in view and cannot do anything… help?

Ooops does holding down power and volume down do anything?

Nothing. The battery symbol on screen has been there for over 40min

Wait, I just shut it off!! Woohooo!

“Your device is corrupt…” then it rebooted and Google screen. Now acts like a brand new GOOGLE device

Ooops I would unplug if you're connected still, hold power and volume down again and should get you back to bootloader. Pixels are generally not easily bricked, just follow the steps carefully.

Ooops it likely booted to the inactive slot. Someone else may advise but I would use Google's flash tool and get stock back on A and B slot then proceed.

Ooops You need to boot it back into fastboot mode and redo the installation. You appear to have interrupted it or stopped early. It seems like you tried to lock before the install was completed. Redo it and let it go through the whole process of rebooting several times until it completes, then lock the device.

How long does the “flash release” take? Maybe I lack the appropriate patience? 5min, 10min?

When I “flash release” the device restarts and then sits in fast boot mode. This is where I probably interrupted the process.

GrapheneOS it appears hung up. The installation machine says it’s restarting device and the device has been sitting in fast boot mode for over 20 min…

Ooops is it at the point of relocking the bootloader? That requires interaction with the phone.

In regards to your other post, I'd recommend using Google's browser based flash tool. Very easy to do, for build I would pick the latest.

Ooops It doesn't stall without making progress unless you lack a reliable USB connection or working browser.

Ooops You don't have a reliable USB connection and it isn't detecting the device is back after a reboot. You previously interrupted the installation instead of completing it. You haven't finished installing the OS and aren't at the point you need to lock. You need to finish installing before locking, and you aren't finished if it's waiting for restart. You haven't given details on operating system, browser, how you have the device connected, etc. so we can't provide specific instructions. You need to fix the USB connection. If you're on a desktop Linux OS with the fwupd bug, don't skip that section.

GrapheneOS I am connected via the USB cable that came with phone in original packing. Connected to GOS Pixel tablet. Process stalls at same location, as you point out, the flash starts and phone restarts then restarts again into fastboot mode and sits. I can't tell what the next step is. The flash script says restarting device and fastboot lock button is ghosted, indicating it isn't ready...

Ooops I went through reinstalling public android from google flash site. Worked great. This is first attempt here since that.

I am not touching device during process other than selecting the device. What am I doing wrong? The flash from google worked fine. Every time I try from the GOS site it hangs at same spot, the flash loading bar fills and the device restarts but then hangs in fastboot mode and nothing changes on either device. Fastboot lock is not available.

Was that using GrapheneOS on the Pixel Tablet as well?

Ducter it requires interaction at this point but it was so quick, it just turned off and back on once or twice, but goes right to fastboot mode and only volume options are start, restart bootloader, recovery mode, rescue mode, power off and barcode
