Android auto usb issues

I used grapheneos a couple of months now and most are working as expected except for Android auto. After about 10-20 minutes it seems like the phone resets the USB port and i have to unlock the screen and reconnect the cable. With the same cable i can use my old S10, Xperia 5 III, wife's S23 and this very same pixel 7a on stock os.

Is this normal and is there any fix?

Kaaruson I wonder whether changing the battery optimization setting for Android Auto might help.

de0u allow background usage has been on the whole time. That's the only battery related setting i can find.

I tried to find a way to lock apps in memory but it seems, for understandable reasons, grapheneos doesn't support that.

Assuming the toggle is on, tap to the left of the word "Allow".

de0u found it, thanks! Let's give it a day or so and see if it did it. If so then it's time to figure out who answering Whatsapp messages doesn't work with AA.

de0u that did not fix the issue. It's like the os resets the USB port. I seen it while charging also but didn't think of it as i allow charging even locked.
