Clone profile for backup, to evade inspection at checkpoints.

I would like to see something like this added to GrapheneOS.

The idea would be to be able to clone any profile and be able to store this clone anywhere (like online for easy access). Then this clone can be downloaded and reinstalled as a profile.

The usage would be for situations where one needs a clean phone, but would like certain profiles to be available afterwards, borders for example.

My question is how feasible would this type of thing be, is it even possible, and would it be worth adding it as an official feature request to be included in whatever the plan is for a 1st party backup solution.

My guess is: you can already do that using backups (seedvault). It covers your use case perfectly. You'd have to enable Device-to-device backups. Any implementation other than this is unlikely to ever happen. Any cloning would have to be done within the profile, not outside, which as I said is the same thing that seedvault does. You can upload the backup anywhere.

gk7ncklxlts99w1 I can't get seedvault to successfully work, for one. Also, thats not a clone at all. Thats a back up, and an incomplete one at that. I'm thinking more like a complete image that can just be reinstalled as is.

mmmm I understand the difference. SeedVault is the closest thing to what you're asking, and I personally doubt anything better will arrive unless they move away from SeedVault to their own implementation, which I think they're in the process of.

gk7ncklxlts99w1 the op was a 'what I want to see' type thing, thats all. I wasn't search for an immediate second rate solution. Seedvault is awful, they've already hinted at a 1st party replacement/solution. I wanted to aire my thoughts.
