Apps turning on permissions by themselves?

Saw today my microphone was turned on in permissions toggell column at gmail. I never told gmail to turn on microphone. This Is the regular stock version. Does the Graphene experience this too?

Most importantly, how would the microphone get just turned on like that? I did not use gmail or Google.

No. Regular apps cannot just turn on the microphone or camera or grant themselves permissions.

The forum moderators generally discourage unsupported allegations. If you can present evidence of apps turning on their own permissions, I suspect that might be of general interest, but "It happens" is not likely to be regarded as evidentiary.

GeorgeSoros your question is if this happens on GrapheneOS too. I said no. I don't know if it happens on stock because I've never witnessed it happening.

Many of the Google apps a privileged on Android. They are not privileged on GrapheneOS, so they are unable to modify their own permissions.
