I have recently switched to GrapheneOS, and for the most part, everything has gone smoothly. I use Android Auto for music and radio streaming, and for navigation. While I was able to get the music and radio streaming apps to show and work correctly with Android Auto, I am having absolutely no luck with any of the navigation apps. When Android Auto boots up, I consistently get the error: there was an issue loading maps. The Android Auto logo shows in place of navigation; no navigation apps show at all in Android Auto.

I have tried using both OSMand as well as Magic Earth. I have tried downloading OSMand and Magic Earth from the Aurora store, and I have also tried downloading OSMand from the NeoStore. On the phone, I am getting precise location information, so that is not the issue. What am I missing? Is there a setting in Android Auto settings that I need to enable? Help?!

Carlito Downgrade to the Play services version in our app repository Stable channel and it will work properly again. A small number of users on Play services 24.22 are receiving a feature flag enabling functionality that's currently broken. We allowed updating to 24.22 via the Play Store but have now rolled back the max version to 24.21 until the issues introduced by the new feature flag being deployed to some users are addressed, which we'll prioritize.

Update: regarding downloading from the Play Store; I reallly don't want to have to log into it, meaning it will be unusable for me. I am ok with the Aurora Store for apps that I cannot find elsewhere, since at least that's anonymous. If Magic Earth will only work with a Play Store download, then I will not use it.

I did try two more apps. Organic Maps, and Waze. While Organic Maps also gave the same error, Waze worked immediately. While I'm not exactly fond of using Waze, I'm guessing that's my only option. I am not logged into Waze, and only use it as a, "guest".

PaulDavis sadly, yes. However, so far that is the only option that is working for me. I am not logged into Waze; for that matter I am not logged into anything by Google. Hopefully, I am not giving up too much privacy by using Waze.

        GrapheneOS

Recent convert to GOS so climbing the learning curve. I get the same error with Google Maps on Android Auto. Not that I really want to use GM but I would like it as an option in case Magic Earth doesn't work for some reason. Their search is terrible.

My Google Play Services says installed version is 24.35.30, which oddly is higher than the available version of 24.31.61. Do I still need to roll back to 24.21 to workaround this issue? Thanks.
