Best Simple Way To Transfer Apps & Data To New Phone

I'm upgrading to a 7a from a 4a.

I've read about Syncthing and some other apps.

I'm wondering if I might just make a fresh install of the apps I use - then import the associated files (if any).

e.g. I use Textra for Texting and really want to transfer the Block list.

Can Contacts (Build version 1.7.34) just be copied?

Will the associated apps (Phone, Textra, etc. automatically access Contacts?)

FairEmail is my preference - can it be simply copied, and retain the associated email account information, archived emails, etc.?

Same question for Gallery.

But I'll still have to sort the process to import data and files ...

Fossify has very nice apps :-) I use a couple of them myself.

They are the Open Source Fork of the Simple Mobile Tools Suits thats now belonging to an Adtech company.

I am on my first GrapheneOS phone.

I started very fresh only installed a few important apps and manually imported contacts from my old phone. Important data from my old phone is still on a SD card that was in the old phone.

If the functionality like AirDrop is something you are looking for, I recommend LocalSend.

It's unclear to me what localsend does that a USB cable doesn't.

I can copy files - what I don't know is if the same, or different, app on the new phone will reliably import the data and (as relevant) Blocked Lists, from the old phone.

Am I missing something about the process, please?

NOTE:
I've copied all of the files and folders on the 4a to my Linux laptop.

.nx, .ssh. Alarms, Android, Atak, Audiobooks, etc. all the way through Ringtones.

I could try copying those all to the 7a but imagine some of them would make a mess if the new versions are overwritten.

I'm not sure where the Contacts and Blocked Lists are kept and don't know if they're formatted the same as a different app (e.g. from Fossify suite).

Found and transferred Contacts.

Next is to figure out how to import block lists for SMS messages and Phone calls.
