Similar to how many recommend using unique email addresses/usernames and unique passwords for every site (using email aliases and/or password mgr), I want to know if people think that is important with phone numbers. I would love the ability to have a different number for every company, but that isn't practical.
However, it would be nice to compartmentalize to some degree, maybe like the following:
- Financial institution/govt
- Friends/family
- Business/work
- Trusted Service providers (lawn guy, barber, maid, etc...)
- Untrusted/junk (craigslist ads, one time signups, etc...)
Is anyone else doing something like this and how are you accomplishing it? When I had an iPhone, I did this via giving my friends/family/financial institutions my real SIM card phone number and then used google voice numbers for all other services.
However, with my switch to graphene and not wanting to use the google voice app, I'm seeking alternatives. I am aware of mysudo, however I do not have google play services installed so this is not a good solution for me as I need to know when someone is calling/texting me in real time. I have played with jmp.chat and it is nice, but becomes pricey once you add many numbers and use a lot of calling minutes.
