Signal/molly adding and messaging problems

In the last few days, Molly has been playing up for me and also my contacts are having the same problems. I did notice that the problems started when I created a new account using usernames instead of phone numbers

I'd try add someone by username and I would get a error message saying, the username doesn't exist and also same problem if someone added me by username. 1 out of 5 people would be able to add by username with no issues.

Second issue, when sending a message to someone. It would not send and just have the loading symbol spinning for hours. But sometimes messaging would work fine, then the loading issue would happen again.

Anyone be able to help with this problem?

Yabbadoo this is almost certainly an issue with their app or servers.

I don't personally know the fix, but for odd issues like the one you're having, I'd try disabling then re-enabling the feature, or change the username then back again, back up and set up the app again, update the app, etc.

There's also probably a signal community out there that might be more equipped to help. I've had no issues with usernames, personally.

Yabbadoo Did you manage to solve the problem ? I am having the same issue with users they have new phone and when adding contacts its will only let them add 6 and then loading symbol . Have deleted app and reinstalled same issue . The 6 contacts they have added can message no issue at all. Im having this issue with multilpe new users and handsets

It's definitely strange problem, as before when using app with numbers. Never had a problem then, started as soon as I switched to using usernames and also strange that it's happening to my friends devices as well

I had the same problem when I created a new account with a new phone number directly from molly through a vpn. Could not send any messages, circle kept turning. It almost looked like the account got flagged as a spam account. Normally you would have to complete a challenge but in this case no challenge would appear.

Try deleting the account (from settings menu) and register it again through the official signal app. That fixed it for me.
