I'm trying to evaluate how much sense it would make to switch now from my Pixel 6a to a 8 or 8a vs to wait for a future model. My current phone works completely fine and still has support time left, so I'm not in a rush. On the other hand, the availability of MTE on Pixel 8 models is a game changer, and security is a priority for me, so I also have a big incentive to switch. Together with the expected general all-around improvements and 7 years of support, I'm almost entirely sold.
Before I actually go and buy a Pixel 8 or 8a, I wanted to ask this question here though. With "comparable improvements", I don't mean the usual slightly better hardware and security, like I'd categorize for example Pixel 6 -> 7, but something that has potential to be a complete game changer, like Pixel 7 -> 8. Most relevant for me would be changes impacting security (directly or indirectly).
I know this is encourages wild speculation, so I'd be glad if you could try to focus on verified or at least somewhat high probability info. General trends would also be interesring. Btw, the reason I'm asking this here is because while there are many places speculating about similar things, few are focussed on what is most interesting to me and no doubt many on here: security, and specifically running GrapheneOS on it.
Thanks to you all!:)
