[deleted] is it possible to use external drives like the "WD My Passport" as a place for backups? I know you can set passwords on these drives but how would I enter the password to unlock the drive if I plugged into directly the pixel?
Panda-na [deleted] Recently I tried my portable HDD, but it just wouldn't spin up at all. I haven't tried a portable SSD yet. But flashdrives works like normal. On my Pixel 7 Pro.
de0u [deleted] I do not believe Android supports whatever encryption/password scheme Western Digital might be using. You could ask them...
UpStream [deleted] You don't have enough power. Just as @de0u mentioned you need to provide an external power source.

[deleted] de0u Yeah looking at WD's forums it doesn't look like its compatible with android... do you have any suggestions?

Roger I use a SanDisk extreme portable SSD with my Pixel 7 with no issues, but I don't have it encrypted in any way, and I don't use it for backups. I justuse it for transferring files.
[deleted] de0u I was just looking for a external drive to hole my GOS backups. But, it would be nice to password protect the external drive
