smartwatch functionality with no network permissions

Having a horrible time trying to get a bangle.js 2 to work and at this point am rather tired of fumbling with gadgetbridge.

Is it possible to use a popular watch like the pixel watch but configure things in such a way that it has no avenue to a network? I am only interested in notifications and bluetooth functionality with the phone. I've read that google play services will basically proxy connections for apps that dont have network access? are there any firewall options on GOS?

Related to this, I am looking for a modern smartwatch or fitness tracker that would operate standalone without connecting to the phone and still provide reasonable functionality and some history. I don't intend to use it with a SIM. Has anyone had any experience with this kind of smartwatch and do you have any recommendations to point me in the right direction? I have been looking extensively on internet but couldn't come across any concrete results. Most of the smartwatches are expected to operate in a usual way by connecting via BT to a stock Android device. Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

What were your problems with the bangle.js2? I thought of getting one.

Hi, I am not sure if I understood your requirements completely, but I think those are fullfilled by gadgetbridge and compatible watches.

I would prefere Garmin amd Huawei Watches as they work directly without any hassle.

I for myself tried a Huawei Watch fit 3 which worked okey and settled with a garmin forerunner 265/which work very well for me.
