I'm totally new to graphene (and linux). Have it working -many years on apple/MS wishing for alternatives, finally no apple, no Microslop, NO GOOGLE!
Syncthing is cool. Love FOSS. learning Linux. Love it. You people are amazing, doubtless I'll get a lesson in decorum since this is my first post.
I am annoyed the "emergency alerts", which I disabled, were enabled by the carrier (TELUS) when I inserted SIM. ...A long list of 'services' have been allowed and I can't control any of the associated permissions. "Phone" controls "Nfc services" which appears to touch everything on the phone: I can't disable, greyed out, & then there's "shell" and a host of others, same state, enabled & "this is required for the device to function?
I've been hunting for days but no game so far. As a newb I expect this much; there's so much information, y'all are 'building the infrastructure of human freedom'. There's so much I don't know that the answer to this question cannot possibly be simple.
I understand that system elements and process are locked for my benefit - I've cratered linux many times on my daily driver and store nothing of any value on it! Trying to figure out how to make a bootable clone 'cuz that'll speed things up.
to the point, sorry
it seems that TELUS may have control that I would not grant them, so why is Nfc given access to everything and TELUS (?) appears to have locked all the settings on phone app. I hoped GrapheneOS would rid me of big-tech parasites, but it looks like they are making me part of their mesh whether I like it or not, by taking control of the various radios onboard and precluding user control? other than pulling the SIM, on the day they decide I simply MUST be WARNED it might snow. And it wouldn't matter what shit they're selling, I'm not interested. I'm not part of their little commie tribe, that's the whole point of GrapheneOS, am I wrong?/.
If P2P & BLE mesh on demand are the next revolution that frees us from dependence on the telecoms, who gate-keep the internet, then people must be in control of it, not big tech.
