faster way to enable and disable Bluetooth

Hello,

Since some recent update I'm unable to disable or enable bluetooth with a single click on tile. Now instead of single click on a bluetooth tile to disable it, I need to additionally hit "Use Bluetooth" radio button followed by Done button.

Is there a way to revert back to the previous single click on tile procedure?

justme I believe all of us are experiencing this and it ihas been changed to prevent accidental activation/deactivation off the toggle. I like it this way better.

justme yes that's an upstream change, and I don't really like it as well. If you are willing to sacrifice some security for convenience, you can check for a Bluetooth widget app on the Play Store / Aurora or use Tasker / MacroDroid to make your own workflow and quick tile, but out of the box there is no one tap solution anymore to my knowledge.

I eventually decided to bite the bullet and use two taps, since I like my system clean and lean...

The only reason I need this for is to stop Bluetooth devices connect to my phone. I use headphones with phone and with TV. When I want to use headphones with TV I turn them on but they automatically connect to phone which means I need to start searching for my phone in the entire apartment, disconnect the bluetooth and repeat the process to get my headphones connected to TV. Hence the one click disable tile was helpful. Now there is even more steps involved so its kind of painful...

justme Yeah I feel you. I loathe the BT auto-connect with a passion for similar reasons. The AOSP BT management is garbage if you use more than one BT device.

My solution is to, as N1b mentioned, use a BT widget app so I easily can disconnect manually (which "disables" auto-connect) + plus BT set to turn off after 5 minutes when not connected.

But based on your scenario, it sounds like enabling automatic turn off would solve your main issue.

Go to Settings > Connected devices > Connection preferences > Bluetooth > Turn off Bluetooth automatically and set it to a timer that works for you.

This doesn't seem to work anymore, at least not on my Pixel 7a.

Is there another workaround to turn off Bluetooth after a specific timer after the last connected device has disconnected?

I don't like the fact that bluetooth is still on after my headset has been turned off. It's not very smart to have to reach for my phone, unlock it, go into settings and manually turn off bluetooth.

I would also be very grateful if you could point me to any apps that would help.

How about the reverse? Any way to activate bluetooth automatically on an incoming call?

Unfortunately all the Pixels (really most phones these days) are really just phablets that are a pain to talk on without a headset. I use a bluetooth headset but between getting the earbuds out of the case and the new method of enabling bluetooth (unlock device > show tiles > click bluetooth tile > toggle on > done (optional)) I find its a race to answer before the caller hangs up.

How is everyone else dealing with this?

It has an option to turn of BT shortly after the device disconnects and no other connects. The privacy policy isn't the best though, but the native bluetooth controls were so infuriating with the idiotic auto-connect that the potential loss of privacy is worth it to me.

It still works and you don't need a separate app for it, the settings have just been moved to: settings> Security & privacy> Exploit protection.

There you can set timers between 15 seconds and 8 hours under Turn off Wi-Fi automatically and Turn off Bluetooth automatically.
