Anyone had success in installing GrapheneOS on an AT&T-bought Pixel 6a?

As I understand, 'OEM Unlocking' is a setting needed to install GrapheneOS.
This feature, on the Pixel 6a I've received from AT&T, says it is not allowed on carrier-locked devices.

My question is:
1) Is there any fairly-straightforward bypass for this?
2) If not, has anyone succeeded in getting this setting to toggle on after having AT&T unlock the phone? (I can just pay them $400 and they'll unlock it within 48 hours, apparently...)

I was in a similar situation. I searched and searched. There hasn't been a way around this kind of lock for years. Your only way forward is to either accept your phone is locked and use stock, or pay AT&T (assuming they'll actually allow OEM unlock).

I don't really mind paying them, if it's going to work of course.
Is there any reason if I'm on AT&T that I would want the AT&T variant of the phone? Because I can just go to Best buy and for essentially the same price buy an unlocked 6A.

The only way is to pay them and then beg an employee of their support service who probably has no idea how to unlock your device/what you are talking about and hope that works. There is no reason to use the AT&T variant
