Hi,
3 days ago I reinstalled Aurora Store and then realized that I cannot disable “Allow Background Usage” for it anymore. (I used to have it off before)
When I click on “App Battery Usage” for Aurora Store and disable “Allow Background Usage”, this change reverts immediately as soon as I exit settings or just go back one step via gesture navigation. When I click on it again, “Allow Background Usage” is enabled again.
Have tried this on both version 4.4.2 and 4.4.3 of Aurora Store from auroraoss.com and https://f-droid.org/packages/com.aurora.store/ (downloading the apk, I don’t have F-Droid installed)
Things I’ve tried:
- force closing settings after disabling “Allow Background Usage”
- just exiting settings to home screen after disabling “Allow Background Usage”
- rebooting the phone
- uninstalling/reinstalling Aurora Store
- force stopping Aurora Store and then disabling background usage
- disabling Aurora Store and then disabling background usage
- enabling exploit protection compatibility mode
- revoking all permissions from Aurora
- changing battery usage to “unrestricted” before disabling background usage
- disabling background data for mobile data
- clearing Aurora’s cache and storage
None of these have worked so far. As soon as I leave the “App battery usage” window (by any means I’ve tried: going back one step with gesture navigation, force closing settings, going to home screen, rebooting the phone immediately) the change gets reverted instantly and “Allow Background Usage” is enabled again.
This seems to be specific to Aurora Store. Disabling “Allow Background Usage” works fine for all the other apps I have tried. (system and installed by me) Haven’t tried it for every single one, but it worked as expected for all the other ones I’ve tested.
I am on a Pixel 6a, stable release channel. No Google Play Services installed. Can anyone reproduce?
I don’t know what the problem is here and would be glad if someone could help. Am I missing something obvious?
If you need further information I will provide it as soon as I can.
If you have any suggestions for things I could try, I will try as soon as I can.
Quick question: Is the website aurorastore.org legit? I havent tried downloading from there yet as I was under the impression auroraoss is the official site and was confused by the other website. If it is, maybe I can try an apk from there. (they seem to be different..)
Thanks in advance.
