I know there are a lot of WiFi calling threads out there, but they all focus on US carriers and are mostly a bit old. So I hope it's OK to start a new one.
I am using a Pixel 6a with the latest build (20240409) on a German carrier. The carrier has done an update to migrate to a new network after a merger of network providers and is offering 5G network availability after the update.
Before the carrier update, WiFi calling worked fine. After the update, it no longer works.
What I've done so far:
- The settings in Settings -> Network & Internet -> Call & SMS are greyed out.
- The GSM code ##4636## -> Phone information WiFi Calling Provisioned is greyed out and unchecked.
- And I noticed that Sim Card (or similar, can't remember the name) is no longer available in the app drawer.
- I've reset mobile networkl settings and bluetooth & WiFi and rebooted the phone.
I contacted the carrier and they confirmed that some phones have problems with WiFi calling after the update and they don't really know why. And this is mostly happening with older phones like the 6a (although I never considered my phone to be old).
Could the missing WiFi calling option be caused by GOS? Or is there something I could try on my end? Or that the developers could do (maybe update the carrier configs?).
I appreciate any help anyone can give :)
