flaiR44 Hello, Being that I am still new to GrapheneOS and still figuring things out I made the mistake of installing my VPN to my other profiles then uninstalling it from the main profile. They are now stuck on blocking connections without the VPN first and because the apps are gone I cannot disable the setting. Is there anyway on the admin profile or the other profiles to disable blocking connections without a VPN? Thank you, flaiR
other8026 flaiR44 You should be able to remove the VPN from the settings here: Settings > Network & internet > VPN > *cog next to the vpn profile* > Forget VPN Removing the VPN in the owner profile will not affect the VPN in the other profiles.
Murcielago flaiR44 Maybe this will help you: settings> Network & internet> VPN> "name of your VPN"> gear icon> disable "block connections without VPN". If you no longer want to install or use the VPN in the profile, you can also remove it via "Forget VPN".
flaiR44 other8026 Unfortunately it did. The other profiles do not have the VPN in the settings and because all connections are blocked I cannot sign back into the VPN to re-establish the connections.
Murcielago flaiR44 To my knowledge, VPN settings in one profile, even if it is the owner profile and even if a kill switch is activated, has no effect on the network connections of another profile. I would therefore assume that the cause of the connection problems lies elsewhere.
flaiR44 Murcielago Yeah I'm not sure. Both profiles with lost VPN setting access say that GrapheneOS and [Legacy VPN] are blocking connections without an active VPN and attempting to open any settings doesn't go anywhere. My VPN also won't sign in even with Data turned on because it's still being told to block connections.
Murcielago flaiR44 Have you tried creating a completely new profile - just to see if a network connection is possible with this profile?
flaiR44 Murcielago Just tested that now and the new profile works just fine. So the Admin profile and the test profile work just fine with or without the VPN installed and active. It just seems like the other two profile are stuck expecting for the VPN settings to be changed or for it to be made active (which it's uninstalled on both profiles). I have also tried resetting all networking setting on the admin profile but that didn't change anything.
Murcielago flaiR44 Ok, that's a step in the right direction. If you check settings> Network & internet> VPN- is any VPN still stored there? (I'm talking about the user profiles in which network is not working).
flaiR44 Murcielago They are blank. Right after I uninstalled the VPN on the admin profile the first time it immediately removed the VPN from the network settings on the other profiles and the VPN client itself couldn't connect anymore or log in.
Murcielago flaiR44 I would assume that you have to delete or reset something from the old VPN - but unfortunately I can't tell you exactly what. I hope that someone will get in touch here who can help you with a more expert answer. Sorry that I can't help you right now! P.S. Have you ever restarted your phone?
flaiR44 Murcielago I will give that a try as I have not done that yet. Sounds like an obvious thing to try but I've been too focused on the obscure setting changes. Thank you for your help in the mean time!
flaiR44 Alright, I'm just a big doof! Restarting the phone worked and the profiles stuck on VPN blocking permissions are fine now. Dumb me always ignoring the basics and going straight to rocket science solutions! Thanks to everyone that replied!
