I want to buy Pixel phone and install GrapheneOS.

Which one should I get? Pixel 6 Pro or 7?

Currently my budget only allowed me to buy either of this phone. Thank you in advance

It's of course depending on your needs. With your budget I'd either look for a good deal on the Pixel 8 (because of the much longer support time and hardware security advantages), wait for a Pixel 8a (same reasons) or get a Pixel 6a or 7a now (whatever is cheapest per year left of support).

Any Pixel will give you huge benefits over other devices, mainly hardware security wise and the many features of GOS. If for whatever reason the choice is really only between the Pixel 6 Pro or 7, I'd take the 7 because I do prefer a non curved screen and a chip with fewer heat problems, also I have no need for the third camera and it's overall cheaper if you consider the support time.

Buy the newest you can afford. It will last you the longest in terms of support. In other words, buy the 7, or even consider the 7a.

It'd be great if you could get the 8, as it will last you 3 years more than the 7. But I understand it's not for every wallet. Maybe you could wait for the 8a, as I assume will also get 7 years of updates, and should also be compatible with GOS, and it might be within your budget. It should come out in around June if they keep the trend

The A models are slightly cheaper. They are also usually launched a good six months after the regular and Pro models, which means you get longer support.

I don't know what specs you're looking for in a phone - maybe just compare them (here for a Pixel 7 and 7a for example).

I agree with N1b for the reasons he has already mentioned: If you can get a good deal for a Pixel 8 or have time to wait for the 8a, I'd go for it.

holocene you mentioned budgetary reasons, and the A series are the most budget friendly GOS devices. You don't lose much if you don't mind plastic material and a slightly inferior camera, and since they come out much later, they also have longer update support than the other phones in the same generation. I do daily drive a Pixel 6 and 6a (the latter one for business) and other than preferring the larger display size of the 6, I don't really see a reason against using the corresponding A model instead.

holocene that is for you to decide, but given that the 8 will last you 3 years longer in support (which also means higher resell prices in case you don't want to use it that long), I'd say it's worth going for it. Security wise it also has one huge advantage which is hardware memory tagging, currently you can't get a more secure phone then the Pixel 8 series.

I can't give a general answer to that - it depends on what is important to you. My personal opinion: If you can afford it, the better camera, the extended OEM support and especially MTE, which is only supported from Pixel 8 onwards due to the hardware, would be worth the price difference to me personally.

Just to clarify - I didn't want to give the wrong impression that you need to upgrade your hardware as soon as possible: The Pixel 7 is an awesome device and will be fully supported with all updates until at least October 2027. MTE is obviously an important feature but your move to Pixel devices with GrapheneOS alone is a huge step towards privacy and security:
