Murcielago Yeah, I read that also but it just seemed unclear to me, hence my post. The Pixel 8 is already out plus the Google Security Blog post itself reads:
Android 14 also introduces a feature that disables support for null-ciphered cellular connectivity.
and then:
Android 14 introduces a user option to disable support, at the modem-level, for null-ciphered connections.
and ends with:
We expect this new connectivity security feature to be available in more devices over the next few years as it is adopted by Android OEMs.
So, it's just unclear if this is positively developed and deployed or not. The blog post is dated from August 2023, but again Google and their Pixel devices are not Android OEMs, they are Android, so given the language in the article, I would expect this to be out already (or soon) for at least he Pixel 8.
