File encryption?

Hello, I'm relatively new to things privacy/security related and was wondering if there is any reason or additional benefit to encrypt local files with a tool like Cryptomator whilst using Graphene. Or is the encryption provided by Graphene already enough?

Cerelixir definitely necessary if you’re wanting to store things in the cloud, especially if the provider is not end to end encrypted, and even then you may wish to still us a tool like Cryptomator.

For storing things on your phone, it depends on how strongly you have locked down your phone. But I would wager if the stuff is sensitive then it’s prudent to lock the files in the same way.

This depends on your threat modeling und use cases.

File encryption could mitigate the risk of disclosure when you want to migrate data into the cloud.
File Encryption could provide another layer to your most sensible data on your phone, if you assume that a threat agent could achieve access to it. Then however you shouldn't use any biometricts to decrypt the vault, but keep the master key to yourself.

mmmm I'm mostly asking from the angle of phone/local storage. I've been considering cloud storage but am still having trouble deciding on a provider. Is "store now, decrypt later" a valid concern with services like google drive, dropbox, etc.? Does any encryption software currently use post-quantum cryptography?
