I'm wondering why there is even still a toggle for it in the first place. The phone supports it by default. It's not like by keeping it switched on that it wastefully scans for an eSim like keeping Wifi on wastefully scans for known/open wifi networks. The only reason I could see the toggle being there is for security, and that it would only apply if toggling it on/off were protected by biometrics/pin entry, as to prevent a spy from secretly installing an eSim into your device when they ask you to hand them your phone so they can look at all of last year's vacation photos.
