Whatsapp and Play Integrity

Good morning everyone,
Whatsapp is the only app that I need to work, unfortunately. I understand it has standalone push notification capability, but if this leads to excessive battery drain, I might need to run a dummy Google Play account. With the recent switch from Safetynet to Play Integrity, can anyone using Whatsapp confirm that this is still working?

Yes, WhatsApp is still working.

Whatsapp works fine, they don't use Play Integrity API. Most apps don't. The move from SafetyNet to Play Integrity API didn't result in more apps using it. The apps that used SafetyNet are likely to use Play Integrity API.

And the Whatsapp notifications don't use a lot of battery either. No need to get Play Services for it.

I give it unrestricted battery permission if that's what you mean

Viewpoint0232 It lets the app run in the background, on iOS there is a toggle for it. Whatsapp occasionally pesters me to switch it on in order to receive notifications sooner. I would imagine it does increase battery drain. If the setting exists on AOSP/Graphene I'm just going to leave it off.

You can try and see if it works without. If you only get notifications once you open WhatsApp then it would mean it needs to run in the background. (Battery use is negligible for me, WhatsApp seems to be way more efficient running in the background than e.g. Signal)
